Hayley Group is pleased to announce its ‘Road 2 Net Zero’ programme which sets out the company’s vision for a greener, more sustainable future. The programme has at its core, Hayley Groups’ aim to achieve its own Net Zero target by 2050, in order to limit global warming to +1.5ºC. This follows the company joining the Science-based Targets Initiative (SBTi) in early February 2022.

Hayley Groups’ ‘Road 2 Net Zero’ programme will chart the progression towards this target, achieved by company-wide emission reductions within both its internal operations and the emerging role it plays in supporting the move towards Net Zero within UK industry.

Due to the interconnected nature of the industrial distribution supply chain, the programme will also help to sharpen the focus on initiatives where Hayley Group has assisted its customers to reduce the environmental impact of their own operations. Collaboration with strategic supply partners to seek-out and promote initiatives and product innovations is also a key part of the programme, as this supports both Hayley Group and its customers to achieve their respective carbon reduction targets.

As part of signing up to the SBTi, Hayley Group has joined forces with 2500+ organisations worldwide, who have all dedicated themselves to reducing greenhouse gas emissions to help limit global warming to well below 2ºC above pre-industrial levels. Going one step further, Hayley Group is also part of the business ambition for the 1.5ºC campaign. The SBTi provides companies involved with a clearly-defined pathway to play their part in preventing the worst impacts of climate change, in line with the goals outlined in the Paris Agreement (2015).

Hayley Group recognises that its 2050 Net Zero target, solidified by its pledge within the SBTi framework, is a long-term commitment that requires a collective effort to overcome the complex, multi-faceted nature of the challenges ahead, and one that transcends any individual staff member or short-term objectives.

Mark Fulwell, Group SHEQ Advisor said, “By launching this programme, we will be able to document the various milestones on our ‘Road 2 Net Zero’ journey. In terms of changing the course of climate change, we have reached a tipping point where, as individuals and businesses, we need to do everything that we can to reduce our impact. By joining the other companies signed up to the Science-based Targets Initiative (SBTi), and going one step further by putting our name against their ‘Corporate Net Zero Standard’, our commitment to being Net Zero by 2050 has been cemented into place.”
